LONG TERM THINKING

In this Western Age of instant gratification, corporations making super profits at the expense of the Earth's long term sustainability and being represented by politicians thinking as far as the next election it is gratifying to find a foundation committed to longer term thinking:

The Long Now Foundation
'The Long Now Foundation was established in 1996 to creatively foster long-term thinking and responsibility in the framework of the next 10,000 years'.

Tim Flannery held a recent seminar with the Foundation titled 'Here On Earth':

DEMOCRACY in the 21st CENTURY
Democracy and freedom is something we all appreciate in our everyday lives but is under threat from corrupt, greedy corporations and some of our politicians. There are two organisations that I recommend to everyone that help put the power of democracy back where it belongs - with the people:

For a broader World view:
Avaaz - The World in Action

...and for more local Australian issues:
Get Up! - Action for Australia

Democracy needs to be nurtured by us all if it is to survive the ravages of the modern World.

JOIN THE SLOW FOOD REVOLUTION!

SLOW FOOD is an international not-for-profit organisation founded in 1986 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions, people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world – people, communities, animals, plants and the environment.
