Travel Plans:

Like all plans, things change. The sailing trip for 2012 is now postponed so I'm busy making other plans at the moment. I'm thinking of having an outback year next year (perfect timing after all the rain and flooding out there!) including a camel safari with Australian Desert Expeditions. This well respected company does a number of camel safaris each year into the Australian Outback. I'm planning on doing a Desert Knowledge expedition - helping ecologists and scientists from organisations like CSIRO and Australian Museum survey desert plants and animals. It will also be a great opportunity to see some arid region birds!

The other trip for 2012 I'd like to complete is a visit to Newhaven Station Sanctuary in the Northern Territory, 360km north west of Alice Springs. Newhaven is co-managed between Birds Australia and the Australian Wildlife Conservancy.  It is home to over 160 species of birds and many threatened mammals, reptile and plant species.
